Second Grade STEAM Adventure

At the STEAM Studio, our Second graders were introduced to the Design Process. They were given jobs as Dance Choreographers and Mobile Travel Specialists. The Dance Choreographers worked in teams and were given the task of creating a character and used programming to get their character to dance. The Mobile Travel Specialists were tasked with learning to code an Ozobot so that it could drive on the road map that they had created. The teams met back up to share their final projects with each other. This was an excellent, student-led, hands-on learning experience for our Second Graders.

6th Grade Field Trip to the STEAM Studio!!

This past week, 6th grade traveled to the STEAM studio at Rockhurst University. There, they tackled the topic of Earth Processes: Weathering, Erosion, and Deposition. The students were given a challenge to build a house on a piece of land that was on a hill. The goal was to prevent the house from falling down the hill due to weathering, erosion, and deposition. They had a great time using materials such as soil, rocks, gravel, water, cardboard, and popsicle sticks. Most of the students succeeded in the challenge and are excited for their next STREAM project.
