Second Grade

At Holy Spirit, we look forward to a partnership with our parents to ensure that the children can and will achieve their highest potential. Second grade is a Sacramental year as the children learn about, and begin to understand, the true meaning of forgiveness and repentance through the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Preparations for First Holy Communion bring them ever closer to our Lord, Jesus Christ.

In Second Grade, each student will participate in:

• Prayers; Sign of the Cross, Angel of God, Hail Mary, Our Father, Glory Be, Grace, Act of Contrition

• Sin versus Mistake

• Differences between Liturgy of the Word and Liturgy of the Eucharist

• Bible stories: Zaccheus, Forgiving Seventy times Seven, The Lost Sheep, The Lost Drachma, The Prodigal Son, The Good Shepherd, The Miracle of the Loaves and Fish, The Last Supper

• Saints: St. Francis of Assisi, St. Therese the Little Flower, St. Nicholas, St. Anthony of Padua, St. Clare of Assisi, Three Children of Fatima
