HSAA

The mission of Holy Spirit is to develop independent, life-long learners who can and will live for Christ.

Scholarship Program

CYO believes every child deserves the opportunity to participate in youth sports and therefore offers a scholarship program for families in need of financial assistance.  If you would like more information, please contact Shawn Turner hsaa@hscatholic.net

Welcome to HSAA!

The mission of Holy Spirit Athletic Association (HSAA) is to organize and administer parish youth sports. Holy Spirit youth participate in the Wyandotte and Johnson County Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) League, which sanctions football, volleyball, basketball and track programs for students in grades 5th through 8th.

The Athletic Association parish K-4 program organizes Holy Spirit teams which compete in local soccer, basketball, baseball and softball leagues.

The HSAA also maintains the parish gym, baseball/softball, soccer and football practice fields, walking track and picnic shelter.

Practices:   TBD
Practices are selected by coaches.

Games:  TBD
We begin games the weekend after Labor Day.

CYO Basketball

The Holy Spirit Athletic Association sponsors teams grades 3 through 8 grade in the CYO Basketball League.  All interested girls and boys, who either attend Holy Spirit school or are Holy Spirit parishioners attending public school, are encouraged to participate in the program and sign-up online for CYO basketball.

Registration/Sign-Up:
Please register/sign up online at www.cyojwa.org

Practices and Team formation:
Begin in November.

Coaches:
All coaches must be up-to-date with their VIRTUS training, and new coaches and new parents to CYO are required to attend in-person “Play Like a Champion” (PLC) workshops.  (Specific dates/locations for these workshops will be forthcoming.)  For returning coaches, please contact Shawn Turner as to your PLC recertification requirements.  Anyone interested in being a coach or has questions about CYO basketball, please contact HSAA@hscatholic.net

The basketball pre-season consists 3 games in December, the regular season consists of 7 games in January and February, and the end-of-season tournament for 5th through 8th grade will be in February and March over two weekends.  Most games are played on Saturdays, but there are typically some Friday night games for the older grades.

When we have 13 or more players registered in a particular grade, then there will be two teams for that grade.  In 3rd and 4th grade, those two teams will be evenly divided by skill level.  In 5th through 8th grade, those two teams will be divided by skill level during a tryout held prior to the first practice.  More info will be distributed to registered players as we get closer to the start of practices.

CYO Track
